Karate...

Today was my first Karate Competition. I competed in the Avalanche Invitational which was presented by Pinnacle Martial Arts. The competition I entered was Traditional Taekwondo Forms for novice (White, Yellow and Orange Belts) Adults age 18-35.

I had to be up at the Clearfield Aquautic Center by 9am for registration, etc. The competitions didn't begin until 10am. My form came fast because so few people signed up in my division. I competed against another orange belt and came in first place! I was very happy about that, especially since I lifted my heal up on the very last move and that cost me points (big no, no in Taekwondo).

When the judges gave me my card for my first place trophy, they also gave me a card to register for the Underbelt Grands...I had no clue what that meant. I talked with the registration ladies and they explained that the first place competitors in every division are able to compete against each other to decide the Grand Champion of each division. I qualified to compete in the Underbelt Grand Championship of Traditional Taekwondo. Sweet!

The tragic part is I had completed my form by 11am and had to wait until 5:30pm to compete in Grands...it was SUCH A LONG AFTERNOON! Joe came with me and we had Ali and Jack, who did not respond well to being stuck in a gym without toys, cribs, naps, etc... Joe ended up leaving for long periods of time and taking trips to Toys-R-Us, the farm store, the car, etc... I think the day was harder on him than me!

Anyhow, I competed and won the Grand Championship as well! I was pretty happy about that, mostly because it probably won't happen again, but also because I was given a Samouri Sword for winning (at 28 years old, this was the very first trophy I've ever won, is that sad or what)!?!

When I got home, after 6pm, I went to the new house and finished sorting all my food storage and got it all categorized and counted. It was a really rewarding day! I now have a fully functioning and organized storage room and I am the current Underbelt Grand Champion of Traditional Taekwondo! All in a days work!

(I can't seem to upload the video of my performance...will try again later).

The house? The one you guys lost on? Or is this a new one? I guess I haven't talked to you in a while. Thanks for your sweet note on my blog. Love you!
I will let you know on the airline tickets. I am still currently looking into clinical trials around the country as well as here.

I don't know much of anything about karate but that was pretty darn cool. So a perfect 10 what did you get in the final round? Or was the video clip from the final round? Well it doesn't matter that much anyways, it was awesome.
