I finished another book today, A Time To Kill, by John Grisham. I definitely enjoyed this book, even more than I enjoyed The Pelican Brief. It was deep and touched my emotions, a little dark - bringing out the more carnal side of mankind, and yet very uplifting, reminding me that life isn't all bad....I enjoyed it. It was different, not entirely predictable and a very grabbing read. I was immediately taken in. I love that. I want to read The Client next, it hasn't been in the library the last few times I've looked, we'll see. If it isn't there I'll be checking out another one of his books instead.

I also finished Charlotte, a work started by Jane Austen and completed by Julia Barrett. It was a really fun read. It was a little slow at introducing the main characters, but very good. I must admit to having really loved reading all of both Jane Austen's works as well as Julia Barretts', thus far. I still haven't started The Third Sister, by Julia Barrett, but I did purchase it and will begin it shortly. It should be a good one...I have high hopes anyhow!
Oh, just a side note. I was recommending John Grisham's novels to my sister and started describing the plot of 'Skipping Christmas' to her and she said, "Oh yea, I saw that movie!" I told her it wasn't a movie and she said it was the exact same plot as the movie 'Christmas With the Kranks'.

I haven't seen the show, so I can't say whether or not it is any good, but the book was a pretty good read - definitely interesting and a huge step away from John Grisham's other works. If you liked the show, you may like the book - or vise versa! I'm not big on movies, but I think I may check it out.
(Apparently numerous John Grisham books have been put on film, I just never knew it because I'm sort of in the dark ages when it comes to movies...A Time To Kill is also on film, done in 1996. I've never seen it, or The Firm, or any other of his books done as movies so I can't recommend them or not, but if you've seen any you think are worthy of watching, let me know! I like to compare them sometimes, although I rarely think a movie does a book any justice...very rarely.)

That is interesting about Christmas with the Cranks. I have read Skipping Christmas a few times and love it...so different from his other novels, but I love his other books too. I am reading all the Robert Parker novels (I think that's what they're called). The Sunny Randall collection is great for good mysteries!
