Taping Into Our Artistic Side...

Last week I decided it had been too long since I sat down and painted anything. So, I broke out the paints on Saturday while everyone was busy with their own activities and I painted. I only finished the tree that day. I spent some of Sunday evening working on the animals inside the barn and then did the barn and leaf last night. Clay decided to try his own painting last night and did Chicken Little. He is really coming along in his painting and I was really quite pleased with how well he did. Anyhow, it was too late to finish the lines on the barn last night so I finished those this morning and decided I'd better not wait to post it or I never would!

Here are our finished products for your viewing pleasure:

This is Clay's rendition of Chicken Little. He had to improvise in a few places when things didn't turn out the way he had invisioned them, but he did a great job with it.

This is the original book cover. Chicken Little, Illustrated by Laura Rader.

This is the book cover I did. When the Leaf Blew In, by Steve Metzger. Illustrated by Kellie Lewis. I've done several of the paintings out of this book because I love the color and I think you can really 'feel' the words through the expression in the pictures.

These are both of my painting. I know it isn't specific to the book like I usually do, but I wanted to incorporate the tree more. I did this page because I loved the color and vividness of that tree, so I made it stand a bit alone on the side and that required me to 'downsize' my barn and I didn't have room for all three animals. I figured the pig and hay could occupy the space inside the barn well enough on their own.

Anyhow, Clay asked what we are going to do with our paintings and I didn't have an answer for him. I honestly don't have a clue what to do with them. I framed one from the 'Snowmen at Night' book for my sister and gave the book and the framed painting to them for a Christmas gift last year (what is funny about that, is she said she had no idea I could even paint...funny because until a couple years ago, neither did I). The rest of them are all sitting in a binder upstairs collecting dust...

These are so cute! I think you should frame them and put them in the kids' rooms!
