It's good to be back on the feasting network...enjoy!
Appetizer
What was your first “real” job?
One of my neighbors called me up and offered me a position as a substitute teacher for an after-school program. I worked at several of the elementary schools in the area and had a lot of fun. I would leave right after school and work until around 5:30 and then have the rest of the afternoon to attend my social obligations! I wasn't needed every day, but there were enough schools in the area that I was kept pretty busy if I wanted the work and the pay was pretty good for an irresponsible High School student!

Where would you go if you wanted to spark your creativity?
I would go somewhere quiet with lots of color and books...a library or museum probably. That may sound silly, but I am very inspired by other peoples genius, whether literary, artistic or otherwise. I also have a brood of children so anywhere that offers peace and quiet is very inspiring!!!
Salad
Complete this sentence: I am embarrassed when…
other people fight or get into arguments in my presence. Does anyone else feel that way? Like being at a friend or family members home when they start yelling at each other. I am so embarrassed, more for them than for myself, but it makes me terribly uncomfortable.

What values did your parents instill in you?
Hard work and honesty. My parents are two of the hardest working people I have ever met. They are up at the crack of dawn and don't go down until the work is done. They don't complain about what has to get done they just roll up their sleeves and get to work. They are also very honest with people. They are honest in the way they deal with other people and they are honest with themselves. I think those are two of the most important characteristics a person could have and I feel very blessed to have a set of parents who exemplify them so well.

Name 3 fads from your teenage years.
I believe I've tried very diligently to block out most of those memories, but here goes nothing...
1. Neon clothing. Everything we wore had bright neon colors, usually matched with something black. I hate neon.
2. Peg legged pants. I actually recall purchasing pants I didn't think were tight enough at the bottom so I sewed them so I had to lay down to pull my foot through them - they were SO tight!
3. BIG hair. The bigger your bangs the better. My hair has NO natural curl or body so this really sucked for me. I had my hair permed for most of my teenage years to add body and get the right amount of PUFF....hideous, truly hideous.
Just a note, my mother actually REFUSED to purchase my school pictures one year because she said I looked so bad....I had thought I looked pretty good that day...just goes to show you how little a teenager really knows!

LOL that's hilarious that your mom thought you looked that bad! Goodness. It's so true, though- looking back, there are quite a few years that I almost wish my mom hadn't bought my school pictures!!
Ohhhhhhh MY! You MUST be 31!!! My daughter wore those SAME pants and had that same hair!!! LOL! And all her clothes were OP! (Ocean Pacific - neon brights!) :)
the bigger hair the better!! we must be around the same age :) great feast this week
I totally hate when people fight around me. It's so awkward!
Haha - I can remember my mother being horrified at my school pics when I was about five. She'd styled my hair into ringlets, and made me wear the brand new Fair Isle sweater she'd knitted me, and just as the photographer took the shot, I got possessed by the spirit of an imp and pulled the most hideous grimace you've ever seen. Have a great weekend!
My Friday's Feast is up at Siani's Pot-Pourri.
I keep getting reminded of awful trends from the 80s! I must have really blocked neon clothes, but it literally flashed before my eyes with your blog.
I agree on your salad. I've been to several situations and felt embarrassed for not knowing where to stand and what to do. Mine is up as well. Happy feasting!
I hate it when people fight too. It is soooooo awkward. Unfortunately, we have friends right now that do it all the time! I loved your other stuff too..hilarious!
Oh I can so relate to your salad! I hate confrontation and it makes me so uncomfortable to watch...
have a great weekend.
